Appointment Requests

A quick note…

None of our locations are on Zocdoc anymore due to a sudden change in their pricing strategy. They are charging us an astronomical fee for each patient booking. In the current environment, it is extremely difficult for a medical practice to stay afloat and keep up the quality while continuing to be viable financially. Therefore, please utilize our online appointment booking button to request appointments at either www.walkingyn.com or our Middle Village location.… Read More »

Once a year contraceptive approved by FDA

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today approved Annovera (segesterone acetate and ethinyl estradiol vaginal system), which is a combined hormonal contraceptive for women of reproductive age used to prevent pregnancy and is the first vaginal ring contraceptive that can be used for an entire year.

Annovera is a reusable donut-shaped (ring), non-biodegradable, flexible vaginal system that is placed in the vagina for three weeks followed by one week out of the vagina, at which time women may experience a period (a withdrawal bleed). This schedule is repeated every four weeks for one year (thirteen 28-day menstrual cycles).

Annovera is washed and stored in a compact case for the seven days not in use. Annovera does not require refrigeration prior to dispensing and can withstand storage temperatures up to 30°C (86°F).

Annovera contains Segesterone acetate as a long acting progesterone which is highly effective given in the transdermal fashion.

There are tons of ways to track fertility and periods but nothing to objectively track MENOPAUSE. I came across this wonderful app. I encourage all those women suffering from the miseries of menopause to track and record their symptoms.

This will also help your doctor and you yourself to track response to natural or medical hormone replacement as well. Here’s the link. I am also placing the link on the Useful links page.

Little Known Facts – Choosing the right tampon?

Dr. Gupta talks about the good, the bad and the ugly about Tampons. How safe are tampons? How scary or not scary are they?

Q: What are the most common ingredients in Tampon?

Most brand name widely available tampons contain, rayon, cotton and a polyester coating for the absorbent core.

The strings may be polyester or cotton and the applicator may be plastic or cardboard.

They may contain also fragrances and/ or odor neutralizers.

Q: Are the tampon ingredients harmful?

The cotton fibers need to be bleached before manufacturing, for which purpose, chlorine may be used.
